WASHINGTON — A Pennsylvania man has been charged by the U.S. Department of Justice after FBI agents allegedly intercepted him while he was acquiring guns and ammunition in preparation for what authorities described as a potential mass shooting inspired by ISIS.
According to the charging documents released by the DOJ, 21-year-old Jonathan Hunter Kramer, of Valencia, Pennsylvania, was charged with receiving a firearm and ammunition knowing or having reasonable cause to believe they would be used to commit a felony or federal crime of terrorism, including providing, attempting to provide or conspiring to provide material support or resources to a designated foreign terrorist organization.
Kramer was arrested after FBI agents approached him at a hotel in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, on Sept. 12, according to an affidavit filed in support of the charges. Agents executed search warrants at his hotel room and home.
Officials said they seized a semiautomatic rifle, five rifle magazines, 190 rounds of rifle ammunition, a rifle bipod and scope, an entrenchment tool, a prayer rug, pepper spray and about 30 knives. Two of the magazines were loaded, while the other three had a 30-round according to the affidavit.
