Has there ever been a society that is hell bent on it's own destruction like the West is today?
In the West, almost every anti natalist practice is encouraged by the state and intellectual circles.
Jewish Social media, anti natalist literutre, unaffordable housing, femenism etc...
All lead to TFR that are well below replacement, while many societies have died throughout history, this is usually due to war, famine, diseases or natural disaster, none of this is present in the West today unless you want to categories jews as a disease.
